At age 6, Toyin Adesola was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disorder in Nigeria, a country with the world’s highest number of Sickle Cell cases where many die young or live with stigma, disabilities, and joblessness.
Life for Toyin became an unending cycle of hospital visits, surgeries, and blood transfusions including life-threatening complications.
